It’s Safety Awareness Week and Safety Sam says, “Foot surgeons who regularly treat foot pain describe flip flop shoes as “dangerous” and injuries are on the rise. Wearing these shoes should be limited to beachwear and replaced with shoes that hold the foot in place. Flip flops can lead to joint pain, shin splints and twisted ankles, not to mention stubbed toes, broken nails, infections from split skin, and injuries from dropped items. Also, when people wear flip flops, they are repeatedly scrunching up their toes like a claw. Your feet may be pretty now, but don’t expect that to last if you wear flip flops more than once or twice a week.” Please report all safety hazards to the principal’s office or Safety Sam at ext. 20050.
