FROM THE DEN – DAILY BULLETIN

Attention Juniors:  College Connection applications are due to your Counselor by Friday, February 24th.  You will need to complete the application, including your essay, your parent statement, and get your teachers recommendation, prior to turning it in to your Counselor, so don’t delay.  Blank applications are available in the Counseling Office.
Softball: JV and Varsity girls' softball teams are still looking for more players.  Whether you have experience or not, you are encouraged to come out and be a part of the Cubs team.  Freshman and sophomore girls, see      Mr. Williams in room 219 today and join.  Practice is after school from 3:00 to 5:00.  Basketball and soccer girls who plan on playing softball, let Coach Williams know so he can add you to the roster.
Track: Track practices will start next Tuesday the 21st at 3pm? Any questions can be directed to Coach Mair, Coach Jones, or Coach Romero.
8th grade invasion: The 8th grade invasion is TODAY, please welcome the incoming 8th grade students to the “Cub Family” and show them our Cub Spirit. 8th grade students will be rotating through stations on campus throughout the day.  At 11:24 all students will participate in the “Welcome Tunnel”.  There will be a rally at 1:10, please see the following schedule for the day.

Attention Sophomores and Seniors:  The sales person from National Recognition Products will be on our campus Wednesday, February 22nd at lunch time in the Cafeteria to take late orders for any graduation items such as caps/gowns, graduation announcements, and class rings.  Graduation is only a few months away so your order needs to be placed as soon as possible.  If you have not yet ordered and need a catalog or information, please stop by and pick up the order forms and ask him any questions you might have.  Order forms are also available in the Counseling and Principal’s Offices.

Students: SAT Prep Class, have you started preparing for the SAT?  The first prep workshop is on February 28 from 3 – 4 PM in the library; subsequent classes will take place approximately every other Tuesday. This workshop is open to all grade levels; priority will be given to 11th grade students.  This workshop will be utilizing the Khan Academy’s Official SAT Practice material designed in partnership with the College Board.   Space is limited; See Mr. Osborn to sign up or for more information.

Attention all Juniors!  2017 Prom planning meeting will be held TODAY at 11:40 am in the library.   Please come and help us plan an epic night!

Students: We have some artistic Cubs and the following students’ artwork has been selected to be on display for the Annual Juried High School Art Competition: Emma Cozart, Sheridan Foster, Hollee McCullar, and Trinity Whipple. The show is at the Old City Hall Gallery on Market Street in Redding. It will be showing until March 10th. Go check it out, you will be amazed!

Attention All Cubs:  Today is your last chance to get your Valentine’s from leadership.  They are selling them outside of the cafeteria during lunch, purchase your Valentine and have it sent to someone you love and appreciate.  You can buy a candy gram for $1, a single rose for $3, or six roses for $15. 

ROP Preview Week is here! Today’s presentations in the Library will be 1st period – Medical Careers
2nd period – Work Experience,  Activity Release is required!

Ski /Snowboard: Want to go Snowboarding or skiing…see Mrs. Pleitez during RTI or Lunch in room 126.  Deposit must be made by February 14 to guarantee you a spot to go.  Let’s go build some snowmen!!

Students: The California National Guard would like to invite the public to Whiskeytown Lake, Brandy Creek launch site this Saturday, February 11th from 11-1 to see the “float bridge” training.  The “float bridge” has been used numerous times in overseas operations along with stateside assisting Cal Fire by using the “float bridge” during the Rocky fire. Your encouraged to come and see the demonstration and ask questions of the local National Guard unit.

Cub Connection:  We will be holding our first annual 3 on 3 basketball tournament on March 9th at 3pm. Team registration forms are now available in room 211/212. There will also be a Championship game against West Valley 3 on 3 students and staff, March 10th at 3pm.. Deadline for registration is March 7th.  For further information, please see any Cub Connection staff in room 211/212.

Attention Juniors: If you are interested in College Connection for your Senior year, please attend the parent/student information night on Wednesday, February 8th at 6pm in the AUHS library.  This night is designed to answer all of your questions about College Connection such as:
  • When to apply
  • What students can expect by being in the program
  • What requirements the students and families are expected to fulfill in order to complete their Senior year at Shasta College.
We encourage you and your parents to attend if you are interested.

Softball: All girls interested in playing on the softball team, Varsity and J.V., if you haven't already officially signed up, stop by room 219 as soon as you can to talk with Mr. Williams and sign up.  This goes for winter sport athletes too.  The softball coaches would like to get a clear idea of the rosters.
Freshmen and sophomore girls, our J.V. softball team is looking to build a solid team of girls.  If you have any softball experience at all, come and join the team.  This is the year to prepare for the future.  See Mr. Williams in room 219 today if you are interested.  
If you're not in a winter sport, softball practice will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 each day.  Come on out and play ball!
